Removing Hair on Your Face

Most women have at least a few unwanted hairs on their face. Whether it’s hair above the upper lip or sideburns we don’t want — it’s annoying. But laser energy is too strong for the face, right?

Nope. At AnewSkin Medspa we use a very gentle yet very effective laser for hair removal, and this can be used safely on the face.

Why should I have laser hair removal instead of just waxing my lip and sideburns?

As women, the last thing we want to do is shave anywhere on our faces. That’s the stuff of hairy men! But we can wax or pluck to our heart’s content, right? You can, but you’d probably rather have the benefits of using lasers on that facial hair:

Lasers…

  • Permanently reduce hair on the upper lip, sideburns, chin, and neck
  • Avoid the aftermath of shaving: razor burn, razor bumps, ingrown hairs
  • Let you forget about facial hair for good
  • Remove 85-90 percent of your facial hair permanently
  • Any hair that re-grows comes in finer and paler
  • Are safe and comfortable

How does laser hair removal work on the face?

The key to removing hair with laser energy is melanin. Melanin is what gives our hair (and our skin, by the way) its color. Once we thoroughly evaluate your skin, we set the appropriate laser energy to match it. We then deliver short pulses of laser energy onto the areas of your face with the unwanted hair. Of course, we cover your eyes with protective goggles first! The melanin in the hair shaft absorbs the laser energy and this instantly converts to heat. The heat travels down the hair shaft and enters the hair follicle where it is anchored. The heat then damages or fully destroys the hair follicle, precluding it from growing hair in the future.

Small areas. Fast treatments.

One nice thing about treating facial hair is the treatment areas are quite small. That means your sessions don’t take very long. Plus, there are a limited number of hairs to be targeted, which increases the ability to remove as much hair as possible.
